As a Natural Christian, the idea of Heaven is the goal of fully understanding our existence and God through the teachings of Jesus. We seek to find the Kingdom of Heaven within ourselves. The Kingdom of Heaven is not a place or a condition, but rather, a state of mind. It would seem reasonable though that we might all benefit from the presence of a place and conditions that are supportive of that pursuit. Civilization is itself helpful to us in finding understanding and peace on earth. We could go further in a local sense to improve upon the support network and conditions for our transcendence to a Heaven on Earth, through a sort of social engineering approach. The goal would be to form a group, association or even social corporation that can improve upon our local support network for information, learning, understanding, support and guidance.
Social Human Engineering can be seen as a new field of engineering that is just as important and prominent in our lives as Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Just as the better known endeavors use physics, chemistry or biology to change our world to make our lives better, Social Engineering should be a discipline used to change our world using psychology, sociology, and the other social sciences, as well as the physical sciences, to improve civilization and the function of society around us. There needs to be a change in how people think about and look at the problems that confront them, however, this does not include an attempt to change the biological nature of humanity or improve the species through genetics. So please, do not confuse "Social Human Engineering" with terms used by modern biological and genetic sciences.
Let's work together to make the world a better place to live, by building a civilization that works in harmony with God to achieve our best goals and the goals of Jesus Christ.
Civilization is the structure of Social Human Engineering and subject of its study. The future of civilization is as important to a Natural Christian as a building is to an architect. We envision how we would like to live and create or modify the structure of our society to surround us in comfort and protection. We would like to see an enlightened civilization surround us and solve all the problems of our world that are much greater than individuals can strive to accomplish on their own.
Civilization is the key to our survival.
How do we define what civilization is and what it should become? Is civilization a local issue or a world issue? Do we allow the world to degrade into anarchy or feudalism? Do we allow the rich and powerful to dominate and control those around them? Do we allow some Napoleon to take control of the world and enforce his ideas of order on those who struggle beneath him? Do we create a democracy where people vote on the ideas of their day or do we create a republic where we vote only on who the people are who make those decisions for us? Do we allow ownership and ambition to control the distribution of goods and food to our people, as in capitalism, do we choose some form of socialism with shared ownership of the wealth of our world, or some combination of the two, as many cultures do now? Do we allow countries to attack each other? Do we allow genocide to be carried out at the behest of a government in power? Do we create an ever larger and more powerful United Nations or World Court to provide another level of government greater than sovereign nations? How would such a higher level government be structured and what would control the government's behavior? Can we come up with even better ideas and structures for civilization? These are the larger choices that have confronted mankind and will continue to dominate our lives in the foreseeable future. They are greater issues that still need to be considered while we try to improve civilization at the other levels, such as, the quality of our schools and the quality of roads and bridges that we drive upon.
"Civilization in the end should be judged by its
weaknesses and the contrast of its extremes and not predominately by its qualities."
Why should this be so? What is it we call civilized?
Civilization is the structure of society that provides for the orderly development and maintenance of the society for all of the individuals of that society. This includes work and productivity, laws and justice, representation and bureaucracy, but also includes education, care, moral behavior, and happiness. A better civilization would obviously provide for these issues for as many members of society as possible. The difference between a better civilization and the best possible civilization illustrates the flaws of the civilization and what improvements that civilization needs to make in order to improve. If an individual of a civilization is starving, is that civilization better or worse than a civilization where all individuals are not starving? If a civilization is involved in a war, is that civilization better or worse than a civilization that is not involved in a war? What freedoms or other issues are worth our lives and the lives of thousands or millions? Obviously, these are complex questions and we must compare apples to apples, but given two civilizations with the same quality of life for a majority of their populations, the extremes illustrate the weaknesses of the civilization.
The
process of improving the quality of civilization is the civilizing of a culture
or society. What do we call the process
of degradation that can occur to a civilization as the goals and function of
society become distorted, such that the extremes and weaknesses of a
civilization are exacerbated by the society?
In a society where poverty and poor health increase in an ever growing
percentage of the population; where the basic right to work for a living is
ignored; where humanity is treated as an expendable resource; where women and children are abused or are
considered chattel; where the lack of opportunity of the poor and less capable
is blamed on them and not the society; where greed is considered a virtue and
not a sin; and where violence dominates our children’s lives rather than love
and respect, civilization is degrading and being corrupted toward false goals. For lack of a better term for this process
that seems to be ongoing at the present time, I am coining a word,
Crassillation. The crassillation of
civilization can be defined as the progression of civilization toward corrupt
goals rather than enlightened goals. The
domination of money and greed and the violence that these foster in our society is
making our society more barbaric. The
valuing of competition over cooperation is a false goal. The valuing of personal interest or a personal gang, such as a political party, corporation, or extremist interest group, over a greater
society is a distortion of viewpoint and a loss of intellect and honesty, a crassilation.
What next? Working on development of other basic ideas that would be common to a Heaven on Earth...
